Madden 09

I love Madden 09 on my xbox 360 and urge you all to buy it. I know that i am a massive fan of the NFL but that came after i bought my first madden which was Madden 08 on the wii.

Why love madden?

1. The sheer joy of putting a crunching tackle on your mate online and him fumbling the ball for you to score the game winning touchdown

2. The cry of jubilation when you edge your opponent in the dying seconds of the game.

3. Basicaly the competitiveness of the game makes it awesome.

Superstar mode

Here, you take on the role of an NFL player in a team. You can create this player or choose your favourite rookie. You play one position on the field and the computer controls the rest of your team. Here is a video of my best moments

This mode is great if you want to feel like a real NFL player at your favourite position.

Franchise mode

Here you become the owner, general manager and head coach of you team. You make the decisions as to which players make the cut for your team. How much to pay your players. Which strategy will you go for in game. You can choose to play each game as a normal game of madden or you can sim it if you just want to be the teams manager and don't like or don't want to play a match. You can even meet in the middle and supersim a game. Here you can drop into the game whenever you like in order to take control for the game winning drive in the last 2 minutes. The one disappointment i have is that i completed one franchise mode of 30 seasons of 4 preseason games, 16 regular season games and 3 play off games including the superbowl

that makes 690 games in which i lost 5 and do you know what came up when i completed it. That's right no fireworks, no dancers popping out of a giant cake, not even a game unlock. I forget but i believe it said "Franchise mode is complete" I have nothing more to say.

Online leagues

This is by far the crowning achievement of EA's madden 09. Me and a few close friends would join a league, usually with a funny name and select which players we value the most. The draft is then run and each players is given the players they valued the highest, that is if another player hasn't valued them higher. This can fuel some arguements when a player purposefully drafts a player you love such as me and Chris Johnson the rocket speed half back and then puts him on the bench just to annoy you. However, this is all good natured fun and these leagues fuel your rivalry as one player gets an impossible play off leaving the victim speechless and naturally quite angry such as this video shows

After that run my opponent left the game in frustration. HAHA

Madden Moments

These are the crazy plays madden is renowned for. Here the game seems to turn against you and then you realise that you did not offer enough sacrifises to appease the god of madden. Many gamers have turned away from madden due to these plays but i find they just add to the enjoyment of the game as they make the outcome of games unpredictable. Ian Gillespie even beat me once... Exactly

I urge you to go out and buy the game. Or atleast wait until August and buy Madden 10 :)
